Mason Shelton is an associate at McGrath McCall, where he focuses on representing financial institutions in restructuring, loan workout, and bankruptcy matters. Before joining the firm, Mason practiced at a regional firm, gaining broad experience that included representing small business debtors, unsecured creditors’ committees, and post-plan confirmation fiduciaries.
Mason graduated magna cum laude from Lipscomb University with a B.A. in Government and Public Administration and a minor in Economics. He earned his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law, with a concentration in Business Transactions. While in law school, he served as an Acquisitions Editor for Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in: Business Reorganizations and Workouts; Consumer Bankruptcy and Finance; Negotiations; Agriculture & Food Law; and Introduction to Chinese Law.
Following law school, Mason served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gregory L. Taddonio of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute; the Allegheny County Bar Association Bankruptcy & Commercial Law Section; the Hon. Judith K. Fitzgerald Western Pennsylvania Bankruptcy American Inn of Court; and the Pittsburgh chapter of the Turnaround Management Association. Mason has also written on bankruptcy topics for Commercial Law World Magazine and presented CLE programs on various topics in bankruptcy, secured transactions, and secured creditors' rights.
